Sir Keir Starmer has held a news conference following his virtual meeting with countries willing to participate in peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine.
Urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to sign up to a ceasefire in its war against Ukraine he said that military chiefs would meet in the UK on Thursday as plans for a peacekeeping force in Ukraine move into an “operational phase”
“President Zelenskyy has shown once again and beyond any doubt that Ukraine is the party of peace” said the Prime Minister
“This is the moment, let the barbaric attacks on Ukraine stop.”
Keir Starmer also said that Russia’s ‘appetite for conflict and chaos’ undermines the UK’s security.
He added that “We will accelerate our military support, tighten our sanctions on Russia’s revenues, and continue to explore all lawful routes to ensure that Russia pays for the damage it has done to Ukraine.”
