A 26 year old man is in hospital with life changing injuries after being attacked in Cheetham Hill last night
A scene remains in place on Beckhenham Road while officers carry out their enquiries, and extra officers have been deployed to the area for reassurance.
Detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for information as they continue their work.
This includes any relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.
Detective Sergeant Gabriela Espinoza Castro, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “We have extra officers around the area to reassure residents as we continue our work, and I would encourage local residents to talk to them about any queries you may have.
“This was a senseless attack which has left a man with serious injuries – there could have easily been much more severe consequences.
“I would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch with us – your information could prove hugely beneficial.”
