Traditional Dining Experiences
Whether wanting a romantic evening or to dine with friends, family, or just a quiet evening with a loved one, the Red Rose Diner is the ideal evening to soak up the atmospheric journey, steam hauled, through the beautiful Irwell Valley. Upon boarding, guests receive a welcome drink before enjoying a four-course, silver-served meal. With a dedicated waiter, guests can sit back and savour the occasion.
A Premium Night will take place on Saturday, July 13. Expect an evening of elegance, with sparkling prosecco upon arrival and a sumptuous four-course. Bring your best black tie attire and glam for the ladies to enjoy a night of only the finest food and entertainment.
If Afternoon Tea is more your style, climb aboard and a beautifully restored Pullman-style carriage, relish in the finest selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones and patisserie freshly prepared by our local chefs as you take in the picturesque views. This is an experience you won’t want to miss.
The Lancastrian Lunch runs on Sundays while the Traditional Luncheon is available on selected Fridays this summer, with a range of different menus to suit the culinary desires of every customer.

Guests are invited to step on board ELR’s beautifully restored Pullman-style carriages while being steam-hauled through the picturesque Irwell Valley. With polished panelling, luxurious furnishings, and crisp linen, these experiences are a perfect way to dine with family and friends.
Tasting Evenings
ELR is also offering drink tasting evenings over summer. In July, the gin tasting experience comes to ELR. With a descriptive guide to each gin served, the opportunity to chat to the experts and purchase the gins to take away, this is the perfect way to indulge in the elevated class of our dinner experiences.
