Oldham Athletic have confirmed that an agreement has been reached for Boundary Park to become the home of Oldham RLFC until 2034.

Roughyeds returned to the stadium last year and are currently enjoying a hugely successful season having previously played at the stadium from 1997 until 2009.

Last March, it was confirmed that Oldham RLFC would return to Boundary Park and they will continue to play their home fixtures at the ground for at least the next ten years.

In the summer of 2023, a new mixed fibre pitch was installed through a grant from Oldham Council, allowing both sports to be played in addition to increased community use.

Latics CEO Darren Royle said: “This is another significant development for the future of sport within our town and we are looking forward to working with everyone at Oldham RLFC over the next ten years.

“When we took over the club, we wanted Boundary Park to become a hub of sporting activity for the local area and this is an important step towards that.

“Roughyeds are enjoying a fantastic season and it has been wonderful to see crowds continuing to grow for rugby league. Working together, we are looking forward to seeing both clubs flourish under stable ownership.”

Oldham RLFC chairman Bill Quinn added: “This announcement is probably one of the most important things for the future of our rugby club.

“To grow the club and to reach our goals, without the Rothwells and without Boundary Park, would almost be impossible.

“Boundary Park is a magnificent venue with brilliant facilities and a truly first-class playing surface and we look forward to enjoying a wonderful future here.”
