canalside bar and eatery Roby 1844 is back – and it’s bringing the heat and flavour to Manchester’s summer scene.
Perfectly positioned next to The Holiday Inn on Aytoun Street, Roby 1844 is once again ready to welcome guests to its iconic two-floor waterside terrace and buzzing outdoor bar.
With a brand-new menu of small plates designed for sharing, snacking and savouring, this season at Roby is all about kicking back and enjoying great food in a great setting. New food highlights include Hummus & Focaccia, Halloumi Fries, Salt & Pepper Chicken, Baja Fish Tacos, Chicken Tenders, Italian Meatballs, Patatas Bravas and the mouth-watering Roby Burger Slider, all tailor-made and ready for pairing with a refreshing beverage.
Roby’s new Spritz Menu is also here to steal the show this summer, with delicious, bold and Instagram-worthy concoctions. Guests can sip on the Rubi Spritz featuring Rhubarb & Ginger Liqueur, Prosecco and Ginger Ale, the Hugo Spritz with Elderflower Liqueur, Prosecco, Soda, Lime and Mint, the Berri Spritz with Raspberry Liqueur, Prosecco and Soda, or the classic Aperol Spritz, all perfectly blended and bursting with flavour for just £9.95 each. And for those who prefer something with a bit of a kick, the HoneyBee offers a punchy mix of Glengoyne 12yo Single Malt, Honey, Lemon, and Ginger Ale that’s as smooth as it is satisfying.
Open Thursday through Sunday, Roby 1844’s summer hours are crafted to suit every kind of city explorer. From those escaping work early on a Thursday (12:00–20:00), diving into Friday and Saturday night energy (12:00–23:00), or winding down for a Sunday canal stroll (12:00–19:00), there’s always a good time to grab a seat by the water.
And for the bold and the brave, Roby’s famous eating challenge is also making a triumphant return. The Big Bird Challenge is not for the faint of heart – two crispy chicken breasts, two waffles drizzled with maple syrup, two beef patties with cheese, bacon, and salad all on a brioche bun, with three onion rings, an extra-large portion of Roby rub fries, and a pint of a soft drink to wash it all down. Conquer it in 20 minutes and the feast is yours for free, along with ultimate bragging rights and a limited-edition winner’s t-shirt. For those who don’t finish, challenge participation will cost £40, whilst providing unforgettable memories.
