Rioting has broken out in Leeds this evening with a police car overturned and a bus now set on fire.

Unconfirmed reports say that the disorder began in the Harehills area after social services removed five children from parents earlier after one was taken to hospital with a head injury

Footage posted on social media shows hundreds of people swarming around the car before hitting it with a pram, rocks and bicycles.

The Home Secretary Yvette Cooper writing on X stated

“I am appalled at the shocking scenes and attacks on police vehicles & public transport in Leeds tonight. Disorder of this nature has no place in our society.“
