It was a delight to attend the launch the of the new heart-warming Embankment Winter menu located on the ground floor of the City Suite Hotel on Chapel Street writes Mark Anderson.

The restaurant  had been beautifully dressed & presented for the Christmas period, with exceptional attention to detail.

The winter menus indulge in two & three courses of wholesome hearty food that gives the diners a number of options.

Commenting on the new menu Chief Adam Wells stated “Our autumn/winter menu places a real focus on using the very best quality seasonal ingredients to produce standout, high-quality dishes that our customers would appreciate”

The Festive Set menu gives the customer a choice of two courses for £31 or three courses for £40.

The starters offer diners the choice from Roasted Tomato and basil soup, Pigs in blankets, Roast chicken and pheasant terrine, Mussels cooked in white wine cream broth & Smoked mackerel pate all from the starter menu.

We opted for the three courses , and for our choices we chose the Muscles cooked in shallots & a creamy lemon sauce & the roasted tomato and basil soup that both came severed with crusty bread ideal to clean away those juices

The main course offered crafted dishes of slow-roast sirloin of beef, pan-seared red mullet and roast chestnut, Turkey Ballotine, Salmon & Lobster linguini & Roast Chestnut & wild mushroom gnocchi for main courses.

We selected the elegantly cooked Slow-roast sirloin of beef, and the Turkey Ballotine with stuffing, wrapped in smoked bacon, both meals came served alongside plenty of earthy root vegetables, duck fat roast potatoes, honey-roasted carrots and parsnips alongside a massive Yorkshire pudding with gravy.

The Desserts offering their standout Signature Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch Sauce & I

ce cream. Homemade Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, Winter Apple & Plum Crumble with shortbread Crumb & Custard. Or an Ice Cream Sorbet.

For our desert we opted for the Signature Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch Sauce with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, & the Winter Apple & Plum Crumble with shortbread Crumb & Custard. Both dishes didn’t fail to disappoint

Other options available away from the Festive set menu are the two person festive feast sharing board that included most of the options from the Festive Set menu, which comes in at £80 & looks delightful as the centerpiece on any Christmas table.

If your preferred option is seafood then the Fisherman’s Feast at £70 is available, it showcases Moules Marini ere, Tempura king prawns, Smoked mackerel pâté, crispy fish Goujons, Pan-fried red mullet, served with an array of accompaniments

All menus presented an excellent choice for all tastes and the food was very plentiful.

The layout, seating, and service from the staff ensured anything we needed was available.

The food didn’t disappoint by any means.

There was no real issues with the food, if anything the crusty bread was omitted from the starter serving with the muscles & the with the desserts the amount of sauce sticky toffee pudding was very slight, the sauce perhaps could have been presented in a jug to give the customers an option of how much they need.
