Residents in Trafford are being asked their views on a draft neighbourhood development plan for the Warburton area of the Borough.
The Warburton Neighbourhood Development Plan was submitted to Trafford Council on 28 February 2025 and is now open for public consultation.
The Plan, which has been developed by Warburton Parish Council, includes a number of policies, which will guide development. It also proposes to protect six green areas by designating them as Local Green Spaces.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The proposed Warburton Neighbourhood Development Plan is a very important document and will shape any future development proposals for the area. It is very important that as many residents as possible let us know what they think about the plan.
“Please take a few minutes out to take part in our consultation.”
Warburton Parish Council Chair, Cllr Paul Beckmann, said:
“We have been working on the Plan for several years and its importance to the Warburton Community cannot be over-emphasised. For the Parish Council it is critically important that all residents make their views known. Many residents have already done so on a previous consultation and the resultant final draft Plan has been only slightly amended accordingly. The success of the Plan in being adopted depends to a great extent on the number of residents who support it and from whom the Parish Council are requesting their backing.
“The Plan will also enable Warburton to enhance and improve local infrastructure and local amenities through development benefits. It will enable Warburton to confirm its distinctive character and preserve it, including the remarkable historic landscape in which it stands. While the principle of large-scale development as part of the New Carrington allocation has been established, the Plan would enable Warburton to address the possible location and scale of any new development within the Parish.”
