A scene remains in place at Dovestone Reservoir this evening
Emergency services personnel are working in very difficult conditions and are doing everything they can.
The search will continue tomorrow in daylight hours.
Specially trained officers are continuing to support the family of the missing person who has now been named locally as Simon Daniels, a personal trainer from Cheshire
Emergency services arrived at the reservoir on Sunday afternoon responding to reports of a couple going into water at Dovestones Reservoir in Saddleworth
The woman was recovered from the water and was being treated. Attempts are ongoing to locate the second person.
One unconfirmed report says that a couple were seen going into the water on a paddle board without life jackets
