Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of a man found in the Rochdale Canal at the weekend near to Oldham Road in Rochdale.
He is described as an Asian man who is in his mid to late twenties. He has black hair with a receding hairline and a black beard.
He did not have any identifiable tattoos or items that could help us identify him in his pockets.
As work continues by detectives to find out who he is, we are releasing a picture of a ring which he was wearing on his left wedding ring finger and we are hoping in releasing this image, someone may recognise it, or are missing a loved one.
Detective Inspector Katie Buntine, from GMP’s Rochdale district CID, said: “Our work remains ongoing to identify him and we hope that the description we have released of him and also the image of his ring may spark someone’s memory, whether you know who he was or know of his last movements.
“We are all working hard to reunite this this man with his family so they can place him to rest, so if you have any information at all, please do get in touch with us. Even if you think it is something insignificant, a small piece of information could help our investigation.”
