On the 3rd of December, Oxfam and Lensor Creative are collaborating together to host a water inspired fashion show to raise money for Oxfam, while promoting the exciting world of preloved fashion.
After a successful fundraiser in the summer, Lensor Creative along with a group of Oxfam volunteers, models, and other creatives working hard to produce 40+ outfits that hypnotise you as they strut down the catwalk. This community group is aiming to give Manchester the best night that slow fashion has to offer!
Not only is there a runway, guests will also have the opportunity to shop some of Oxfam’s recent donations or have their go at the locally prized raffle (perfect for those Christmas gifts). As the models take their breaks why not enjoy a warm-your-belly beverage while our interval performers treat you to their entertainments.
Located at the MMU The Union, guests can join us from 6pm allowing for time to shop, drink and to settle down until the show officially starts at 7pm lasting until 9pm. After the first half there will be an interval break to get yourself more refreshments and take part in the raffle. Following a second half the event space is open till 9:30pm for people to still shop or chat to any volunteers and models.
The aim of the show is to highlight all that can be achieved with preloved clothing. We’ve all been hit by the finical crisis so it’s the perfect time to really see what Oxfam has to offer while raising money for people who currently don’t have clean water. The focus for this show is to highlight Oxfam’s work with providing safe water to the millions of people without it. Giving them this access to safe water and hygiene facilities will increase their chances of protection against deadly diseases.
Oxfam Deputy-Manger Sam said “As a preloved stylist my aim is to promote second hand fashion, in a larger way than I’ve ever done before. Charity shops give you the ability to be fashion forward without the price tag of buying new – what better way to see what can be achieved than a runway with more than 40 outfits. Being Lensor Creative’s head stylist, I see the impact of this industry on the environment, and this is how I can do my part to challenge it.”
Izzie Cannon, the owner of Lensor Creative said “Charity shopping and thrifting provides everything that buying new does, like staples and unique pieces while also giving you the thrill of not knowing what you’re going to find next. Ultimately by shopping second hand you’re not only funding various charities that need the support, but also moving away from the carbon emission impact of fast fashion. This fashion show is a great way to raise awareness on how we can start to change that.”
