One person has died and a woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening, while several other people sustained minor injuries in a crash on the M60 last night.
Police say the vehicle, a HGV with a white cab and blue trailer, had been travelling on the M60 when the vehicle lost control and collided into two vehicles. It then crossed into the opposing carriageway and collided with a further two vehicles, before coming to rest on the verge.
The accident happened on the anti-clockwise between junction 15 and 16 around 7.00pm
No arrests have been made.
Closures remain in place and drivers are advised to check for latest travel updates while planning their journey.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
This includes anyone who witnessed the collision or has any relevant dashcam footage from around the time of the crash.
