For every occasion or celebration, the Swinton Estateoffers a wide variety of culinary experiences.  This spring 2025, two new inviting spaces with the most mouth-watering menus join the wide variety of gourmet offerings across the 20,000-acre Estate in Masham on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

Indoors is the striking Adam’s Folly – the Swinton Estate’s new private dining room created for intimate dinners that comfortably hosts between 10 and 20 guests, serving a fine-dining menu specially tailored to each event by the expert chefs of Samuel’s Restaurant.

Taking inspiration from and named after landscape architect Adam Mickle junior – who was involved in creating the Swinton landscape as it is today and who also constructed the follies within its gardens – the private dining room is designed to bring a touch of the gardens into the interior, coupled with touches of history and heritage.  Located on the ground floor in the heart of Swinton Park Hotel and formerly both a museum space and home to the original bar area, the opulent décor of Adam’s Folly is inspired by Swinton Estate’s parkland and folly, boasting a triple ceiling height with an ornate chandelier setting the scene.

For guests seeking relaxing al-fresco drinking and dining at Swinton Park Hotel, the new spot to sit back and unwind with a glass of fizz this spring and summertime is the Pommery Champagne and Croquet Lawn.  Complete with far-reaching views over the Deer Park, this outdoor destination is perfect for anyone wanting to indulge in an informal game of croquet before toasting the winner with Pommery Champagne.

Comments Paul Hunter, General Manager at the Swinton Estate, “We’re so pleased to be opening two new and impressive spaces for our guests. Adam’s Folly is the fabulous addition that our extensive array of dining options had been missing.  Now we have an exquisite private dining room that’s complete with the splendour and elegance that the most exclusive events deserve and it’s right at home in Swinton Park.  Equally marvellous is our new Pommery Champagne and Croquet Lawn, which looks out across Yorkshire’s breathtaking countryside and when the sun shines, is ideal for lunch with some bubbles and a convivial match of croquet with friends and family.”

Private dining on the Estate includes options from a picnic by the water to an informal family lunch in the Arnagill near the Terrace Restaurant and Bar, or from a lavish celebratory dinner to an intimate experience at Chef’s Table by Josh Barnes.  All of Swinton Estate’s dining experiences embrace the very best seasonal produce with an estate-to-plate ethos.  This includes sourcing as many ingredients as possible from the Hotel’s Walled Garden and Estate producers, with anything else brought in locally from across Yorkshire.  Fruits, vegetables, herbs and more are grown in the four-acre Walled Garden, the Estate deer herd in the Parkland provides venison, and farm tenants deliver beef and pork products, while Swinton Estate’s chefs forage for seasonal, wild, edible ingredients from across the Estate.

For an unforgettable journey of incredible food and drink by Michelin-trained, award-winning chef Josh Barnes, diners can enjoy Chef’s Table by Josh Barnes.  This fresh culinary experience like no other, combining intimate fine-dining with the very best produce grown, reared and foraged on the Swinton Estate, Yorkshire and the North East, is available for between two and twelve guests with Swinton’s dedicated team able to individually tailor a bespoke evening event.

The Deer House is a restored period masterpiece nestled at the heart of the deer park overlooking Swinton Park Hotel and providing an idyllic location for hosting family gatherings with celebratory meals including birthday parties, Christenings, anniversaries and weddings.  The Deer House is also home to Swinton Estate’s ‘pop-up’ barbecue or pizza evening experiences.

The Library provides a magnificent, opulent space that is beautifully lit from wall to wall with floor to ceiling Georgian windows overlooking the deer park, making this private dining space perfect for hosting anything from a private lunch to a sumptuous wedding breakfast.

Next to The Terrace Restaurant and Bar – from where this gorgeously contemporary space takes its elaborate menus – The Arnagill Roomis ideal for drinks parties, birthday lunches and suppers or children’s get-togethers.

Boasting spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, the Tipi is a fully furnished venue available from April to September and can be booked alongside the fully licensed Bivouac Café.  Providing a blank canvas to create any event stamped with personal style, this private dining option is ideal for watching the sunset before dancing the night away under the stars.

The Lake House is a beautiful but tiny space sitting hidden on a private island on Top Lake in Swinton Park Hotel’s gardens. The island is perfect for ‘secret’ family picnics, alfresco dining for two or tailored business lunches.

Traditionally used to provide respite from inclement weather for those high on the moors, the Bothy Huts are ‘off the beaten track’ boltholes able to host from two to twenty guests.  With unspoilt, sweeping views across a stunning landscape, Swinton Estate’s Bothy Huts can accommodate a planned picnic lunch party complete with fires lit and tables laid, or a truly romantic proposal location.
