Manchester-based business development consultancy, Elevate, has announced the return of its annual Northern Sustainability Summit, which is set to take place at Manchester Central on Monday 8th July 2024.

Following a successful debut in 2023, with attendance from over 350 people, the event returns for a second year, doubling in size, and is expected to attract up to 600 visitors from the north and beyond. The trailblazing event is a project within Manchester Central’s incubator scheme, a programme open to businesses of all sizes and sectors that have a unique event concept, and are looking for support to bring it to life.

The theme for this year’s summit is ‘making sustainability work for business’ and will include representatives from Electricity North West, Chester Zoo, the University of Salford and other leading organisations sharing sustainability insights throughout the day. Delegates can expect sessions covering topics such as attracting eco-conscious consumers, accessing finance, reporting and offsetting, the role of infrastructure and the green industrial revolution.

According to ENGIE Impact’s 2024 Net-Zero Report, 66% of organisations say they have some form of public carbon reduction commitment, but only 20% say they are meeting, or exceeding their goals. The summit aims to bring northern businesses together that are leading the charge on sustainability and connect them with those who are looking for guidance on how to set and meet sustainability goals, whilst also providing the tools they need to make a positive change, in turn, continuing the region’s mission to uphold sustainable business innovation across the UK.

Speaking on the event, Co-Founder and Director of Elevate, Ilona Alcock said: “It’s great to be back for a second year, we were blown away by the reception to our first Northern Sustainability Summit. Its success was further evidence that our region boasts a wealth of exciting businesses committed to sustainability.

Bringing these businesses together again, with plenty of new attendees in the room, will mean they can continue to share their wisdom and innovation and boost our region’s reputation as a powerhouse for sustainability. The more we can connect businesses and encourage them to share their work and learnings around sustainable practices, the better. Together we can collectively shape a greener future.”

Ben Grunfeld, Strategy and Growth Director at headline sponsor Electricity North West, said: “We are excited to return to the Northern Sustainability Summit as headline sponsors. Our network and investment underpins the green growth of the region and we look forward to meeting businesses at all stages of their sustainability journeys to identify where we can support and collaborate. Events like these are critical to ensure the region hits its ambitious net zero targets.”

The Northern Sustainability Summit will also be partnered by Manchester Central, the University of Salford, national PR agency The PHA Group and the Juice Academy.
