The first full day of the new rail time table across the North of England saw commuters at the start of their journey to work hit with cancellations and delays.
Nineteen trains had been cancelled by 10am and 31 delayed, some due to a shortage of drivers.
Among the services affected were those between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport, Leeds to York and Sheffield, and Darlington to Saltburn.
Transpennine Express had 24 cancellations listed for throughout the day due to a shortage of crew or train faults.
Affected services included those linking Manchester Airport with Edinburgh and Newcastle, and trains from Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough.
A Northern spokesperson said: “The new timetable for Northern has performed well.
“The small number of delays and cancellations are due to operational issues including driver sickness, signalling failure and train faults.”
