Merseyside Police have arrested a 53 year old White man from the Liverpool area and say that this was an isolated incident and are not treating it as being terror related
Police were called just after 6pm after reports a car had collided with pedestrians on Water Street
Last night Police said a number of pedestrians were struck by the car and 47 people and including four children are being treated in hospital
Footage appears to show a black people carrier driving into the crowds at speed with people surrounding the car and hitting the windows as police rushed to respond
Liverpool FC said in a statement “our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident”
