For the second consecutive month, players and staff have not been paid in time at the Salford Red Devils

In a statement the club said

“As many will already know, our payroll wasn’t delivered this morning as scheduled, despite assurances. It remains a difficult situation for everyone at Salford Red Devils.

Irrespective of this, we, as players and staff have continued to uphold our commitments with professionalism, ensuring the club remains competitive on and off the field. Now, we await the same level of commitment from those responsible for ensuring the stability of our organisation.

The unwavering support of our fans and partners during this challenging time, is both humbling and inspiring, it makes all the difference to players and staff.”

The troubled club remains in RFL-imposed special measures and salary cap sustainability limits and it was revealed today that the RFL have offered support to Salford’s players and staff via the Rugby League Cares.

Last week CEO Chris Irwin said he had received assurances from the new ownership group that money for payroll would arrive on time.

“I spoke to the owners and they’ve assured me that there will be a significant amount of money in the accounts to ensure that payroll gets through this month,” Irwin told BBC Radio 5Live Xtra.

RFL also say in a statement they’ve had assurances again from the new owners this is a temporary issue
