A neighbourhood garden at Miles Platting Community Library, created as a green space for community has become a haven for wildlife, bees and insects.

The bee garden, started as a community project by Jigsaw homes working alongside Manchester City Council library staff and local children, was created to commemorate those affected by the May 2017 terror attack at Manchester Arena.

The garden is full of beautiful plants which attract numerous insects and bees. This year, the donation of 25 plants by Sisk building contractors, has enhanced the existing plants and the bee population which has more than tripled since the plants were originally bedded in.

Along with the two bee hoppers for children to play on and the small roadway for the children’s bikes, the garden is well used by local people and a local dog walking group makes it their own when the library is shut.
