Local home care company, Home Instead Salford & Worsley, were delighted to host the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Madam Tanya Burch, earlier this month as she spent a morning learning about the company’s valuable work in the local community.
The Mayor was interested to understand home care options and what the work of a company rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) looks like. Naturally she was also keen to meet with some of the team who deliver the care.
The visit started at Home Instead’s office in Swinton where she was greeted by Susan Robinson, owner of the business. The pair discussed care in the community and the impact it can have to support people to live independently in their own homes as well as being introduced to members of the team.
Ms Robinson then took the Mayor to a weekly ‘Cuppa and Company’ coffee morning at All Saints Church in Wardley; one of the many community events organised by Susan and her Community Engagement Champion, Jo Robinson.
Having enjoyed a cuppa and met some of the coffee morning regulars, the Mayor then joined Home Instead along with the vicar of All Saints, Father Jeremy and representatives from Age UK, for a meeting to learn more about the day in the life of a Care Professional.
Speaking about the visit, Susan said, “It was an honour to be joined by Madam Mayor and be able to tell her about our approach to quality care.
“Our work extends well beyond the care service we deliver and we are proud of the many community links we have nurtured over the past nine years.
“Jo has done a fantastic job organising events for the older community in our area. As well as the weekly coffee morning she has organised armchair exercise classes, wreath-making workshops at Christmas and events with the Mobile Memorabilia Museum which allow people to reminisce and which prompt lively discussions of times gone by. People just love it.”
