Manchester, get ready for a mind-bending experience! The highly anticipated Museum of Illusions has officially opened its doors in Manchester as of today, September 27th, 2024.

Located on Market Street, this is the first UK location for the world’s largest and fastest-growing private museum chain, known for its captivating optical illusions and immersive, interactive exhibits. The new science-meets-entertainment attraction is the latest permanent addition to Manchester’s vibrant cultural scene and promises a captivating experience for visitors of all ages, right in the heart of the city.

With exhibits ranging from holograms and optical tricks to full-scale illusion rooms and playful mirror displays, the attraction promises a mesmerising day out. Fans of immersive experiences will appreciate the disorienting Vortex Tunnel, the kaleidoscope of colours in the Infinity Room, and the visual trickery of the Reversed Room. Each illusion invites visitors to question their senses and challenge their perception of reality.

While many popular exhibits make appearances at each Museum of Illusions location around the globe, the Manchester branch features exhibits tailored for a real local experience. The Reversed Room creates an interactive, tram-inspired illusion, The Following Eyes Illusion features a famous Manchester persona who can’t get their eyes off of guests and The Building Illusion invites visitors to ‘hang’ from an iconic Manchester building, just like a superhero.

Upon entry, visitors are greeted with a sign reading “Enter the Illusion” and then embark on a journey through a series of visually captivating exhibits. There are over 65 exhibits ranging from simple wall-mounted optical illusions to immersive experiences that challenge both mind and body. The museum is fully accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy the fun.

As visitors come through the museum and ‘back to reality’, the museum gift shop is packed with quirky souvenirs to keep the illusion alive long after they leave. From illusion-themed puzzles and mind-bending books to fun accessories like illusion socks and optical illusion notebooks, there’s something for everyone.

Steven Buchan, General Manager at Museum of Illusions, commented: “Manchester is a city known for its innovation and creativity, and we’re thrilled to bring the Museum of Illusions to such a dynamic location.

Our goal is to offer a space where visitors of all ages can explore the wonders of perception, engage with immersive exhibits, and experience the joy of being delightfully tricked by the eye. We can’t wait to welcome locals and visitors alike to experience the magic for themselves.”
