To mark World Autism Month 2025, Manchester’s Museum of Illusions is expanding its commitment to accessibility with a full-day Sensory-Friendly day on Tuesday 29 April, dedicated to its neurodivergent guests.
Since launching in September 2024, the museum has offered bookable Sensory Sessions designed to create a welcoming and calming environment by dimming lights, lowering sound levels, and reducing sensory input for those with neurodivergent needs.
However, on Tuesday 29 April, the entire museum will adopt these adjustments for the full day, in recognition of the importance of raising awareness of neurodiversity and ensuring visitors of all sensory profiles feel comfortable, supported and included.
The museum will also provide complimentary sensory kits (including ear defenders and fidget toys), and has team members who have undergone autism awareness training, clearly identifiable and available to assist throughout the day.
Located right in the city centre, the Museum of Illusions offers the perfect family day out with over 50 interactive exhibits – including gravity-defying rooms, optical illusions, and mesmerizing holograms. It’s a fun, educational adventure that’s guaranteed to delight both kids and adults alike.
