Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) have received an incredible donation from charity campaigner Michael Josephson MBE.

The donation comes at an important time, as the charity are planning a new residential trip for the young people they support, specifically for those 10-16 years olds; being the first trip for this age group and the first specifically focused around mental health.

The £7000 that Michael has donated will mean this trip will take place in the summer and many young people can experience new activities and be together with their friends, as well as making new ones.

Michael donated to the charity last year, meaning they could take a group of 16–25-year-olds on a residential trip, with this being very successful GMYN are organising it again. A video of the trip can be seen here.

Alex Fairweather, Founder and CEO of GMYN, says: “We’re really pleased and grateful that Michael has very kindly donated to us from his #MJBall22 funds.

“This donation will be used to fund the residential trip that focuses on improving wellbeing and educating on mental health awareness, a key theme in GMYN’s delivery supporting young people facing disadvantage. We look forward to sharing more information as the residential plans begin!”

Michael Josephson MBE is a charity campaigner, successful businessman and mental health awareness advocate. He has dedicated himself to supporting disadvantaged young people, who like himself, may have experience childhood trauma or the care system.

GMYN’s vision is #YoungPeopleCan and their goal is that young people are safe, heard, and capable of great things. The charity supports young people aged 10-25 from across Greater Manchester by offering innovative and exciting opportunities that they are not able to access elsewhere.

The Manchester-based charity has helped over 11,000 young people through their growth as a single volunteering project to a registered charity since it was founded in 2007.

Michael Josephson MBE, says: “The money I’ve donated will fund an outdoor activity residential for young people facing significant challenges. The trip will be a transformative experience for the young people that attend, so I’m pleased to be supporting this cause.”

GMYN know how important supporting young people at an early age is, and how this can plant the seed for a safer transition into adulthood.
