House of Commons Leader and Manchester MP Lucy Powell appeared earlier to launch her own parliament-related digital coin

However later became clear her X Account had been hacked

The hackers used her verified X account to sell  a totally fake cryptocurrency called “HCC.” and used Parliament’s logo and Powell’s official title like it was a badge of trust.

They called it a “community-driven digital currency,” which is code for: “we’re about to rob you and vanish.”

Only 34 transactions happened, worth about £225

“Steps were taken quickly to secure the account and remove misleading posts,” a spokesperson for the Cabinet minister said.
