A man from Manchester who trolled the author AK Rowling online and threatened to kill her with a hammer has been convicted at Westminster Magistrates Court

31 year old Glenn Mullen was also convicted of targeting the Labour MP Rosie Duffield who he said he said he was “going to see at the bar with a big gun”

The court heard that Mullen uploaded the audio clips in Scottish Gaelic and was then publicly identified as the poster of the audio clips by an online magazine shortly after they were posted on Twitter in January 2023,

The Harry Potter author the court was told thought the threats “appeared calculated” and “were quite chilling”.

“They made her look over her shoulder and worry about the safety of her family and her children,”

Mullen pleaded guilty to two charges of sending an article conveying threatening messages at an earlier hearing and was given two eight-week prison sentences, suspended for two years, to be served concurrently.
