A group of business leaders from across Greater Manchester have joined forces to form Business Beats Cancer Manchester, a new board designed to encourage the region’s business community to do their bit to show that they mean business in the fight against cancer.
The board will raise vital funds from businesses in Greater Manchester to support life changing research that directly impacts the city’s residents, with two important areas of focus carefully selected to receive essential backing each year. Every penny that the board raises from their fundraising will be split between these two worthwhile areas.
The newly launched charity, in partnership with Cancer Research UK, is proud to announce its inaugural fundraiser – a Gala Dinner at the iconic Manchester Cathedral on Thursday, 27th March.
During the event, renowned Manchester artist Argh Kid will perform a poignant, self-penned poem about cancer. The charity is also calling out to influential figures across Manchester to lend their support to this important cause and inviting individuals to join the board to help amplify its mission.

Business Beats Cancer chair, Jon Butler, said, “This is an amazing platform that brings the Manchester business community together to raise money for cancer research projects that really can make a difference both in Manchester and around the globe. Since our business community is so active and influential, we’re looking for businesses to join us in supporting our chosen research projects by helping us raise funds across the year. There are lots of ways to support – if you can’t make it to our Gala Dinner fundraiser, simply donate. If every business in Greater Manchester gave just £1, we could raise over £500,000.”
Aaron Webster from Cancer Research UK commented, “Business Beats Cancer has been such a success in other cities across the UK, and we know the Manchester board is going to take it a step further. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring together companies from across the city and raise money for a cause that affects 1 in 2 people, meaning the money raised really will save lives. The Manchester board has arranged an amazing night of entertainment and fundraising, and I can’t wait to see it all come together.”
