A Secret App which aims to transform how residents and visitors alike can explore and connect with cities worldwide and boosting independent businesses along the way is coming to Manchester

The app offers a free platform for artists and makers to showcase their work for free. In return, the app asks artists to offer up the ‘secrets’ of the places they love in their city – insider recommendations, hidden gems, favourite galleries, and spaces.

There are already many Manchester artists signed up for the app and revealing their Manchester ‘secrets’, including:

Domino Panton-Oakley, Director of Neighbourhood Gallery. Manchester is special to Domino as she says, ‘it’s my hometown, and we Mancunians are proud of our city and its creativity”. Her secrets of the city include Gallery Oldham which she describes as “a great gallery…they host a variety of arts and crafts workshops too.’

Painter Erica Pham. Manchester is special to Erica as she says, ‘it’s unique, artistic in all forms, open and progressive and everybody is warm and smiles at you.” Erica’s secrets of the city include The Whiskey Jar. Erica says, ‘Best open music mic nights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Understated and intimate setting making it a perfect venue for listening and watching local talent.’

Illustrator Matt Hollings who loves Manchester as ‘there is a great soul to the city, thanks to the people that live here.’ Matt’s Manchester ‘secrets’ include Kingbee Records for buying second-hand records.
