The Liberal Democrats have launched their manifesto, which includes a pledge to spend £9bn on hiring more GPs and introducing free care for the elderly.
Leader Ed Davy in media questions after the launch also pledged to Lib Dems to take the UK back into the European Union single market
Amongst in the manifesto the party said that it would raise benefits to eradicate poverty
and would build HS2 in full.
The party would introduce a Land Value Tax and would end what it described as “the unfair and distorted First Past the Post and replacing it with fair votes through proportional representation.”
Within Health Care,Ed Davy promised GP appointments within 7 days or 24hrs if urgent,a raft of mental health policies, Cancer treatments within 2 months of diagnosis and a care plan based on NHS principles
“Caring has been in the shadows for far too long. I am proud that we as a party have brought it into the light.” Davy said at the launch
“We are putting forward a bold, ambitious and fully-costed plan to tackle the health and care crisis from top to bottom.” he added
“This is a manifesto to save the NHS.”
It would use Capital Gains Tax to fund many of these pledges
On the relationship with Europe the manifesto says that The party would aim to place the UK-EU relationship on a more formal and stable footing by seeking to join the Single Market.
