Leading North West-based IT and managed services platform, Project Edge, has announced the appointment of new Chief Finance Officer, Charlotte Williams.
The platform was developed by entrepreneurs Alex Heslip and Chris Earle, who set out on a buy-and-build strategy to create their own managed services platform. The pair made its first acquisition in 2023 with North Wales-based cloud services provider, RISC IT.
Williams joins the business following Project Edge’s recent acquisition of South Manchester-based managed services provider, Novem. The acquisition was supported by private credit provider, TDC.
With extensive experience in high growth businesses, Charlotte will take on a key role overseeing the company’s financial, HR and legal functions. Following the company’s recent acquisitions, she will be responsible for shaping the financial strategy to support the growth and successful integration of the Group.
The business has also worked with TDC to appoint new board observer Steve Smith. He will bring extensive experience to the board following his time as CFO at Daisy Group.
As the firm is set to complete further complementary acquisitions to bolster the group’s existing service offering, the two new hires will support the group’s ambitious growth objectives.
Alex Heslip, group CEO, said: “We’re excited to welcome Charlotte onto the board, she brings a wealth of experience in the sector, and it’s great to bring some diversity to the boardroom too!
“We’ve also worked with our friends at TDC to appoint a board observer who can add value and bring valuable experience to the board. Steve achieved so much in his time as CFO at Daisy Group, there is no doubt that he can help us make better decisions in pursuit of our strategic vision.”
Charlotte group CFO, said: “Project Edge is at a pivotal stage of growth as it progresses with its buy-and-build strategy, so it’s certainly an exciting time to be joining the team. Alex, Chris and the team have already succeeded in growing the group at an accelerated rate, and having worked in other high-growth businesses, I’m looking forward to working with the team to further elevate the success of the business.”
Jon Petty, investment director at TDC, added: “What Alex and Chris have already achieved at Project Edge in such a short time is remarkable, and the addition of Charlotte and Steve will help the team accelerate this further. We’ve supported a number of businesses in the IT sector over the years, so we look forward to continuing to support Project Edge with follow-on capital as it continues to make further acquisitions in the future.”
Steve Smith, group board observer, said: “It is great to be joining the Project Edge board and support it with its ambitious growth strategy. The business has already achieved incredible growth so far and I look forward working alongside the team at TDC to grow the business with further complementary acquisitions in the North West and beyond.”
