It was a case of ‘déjà vu’ for Sale Sharks, who lost 28-21 due to a very late try in France for the second time this season.
After a pulsating match a youthful Sharks side looked set to earn a deserved draw only for Semi Kunatani’s 79th minute try to snatch the win for the hosts.
It was a cruel way to finish for Sale and mirrored what happened when the club lost out in the final few minutes in Lyon last October.
But at the end of their European Challenge Cup campaign, Sale can take huge credit from the way their have battled against opposition of the highest calibre.
