This Sunday John Ambulance volunteers from units around Greater Manchester are running a six-hour CPR-a-thon and members of the public are welcome to drop by to have a go and learn how to save a life using Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

The St John team will be outside John Lewis in the Trafford Centre between midday and 6pmon the day.

Volunteers will score members of the public on their CPR efforts and a league table will be kept during the event. There will be prizes at the end of the day for the winners in various age groups.

The team will also be fundraising during the day. As the charity relies partly on the generosity of the public to continue its life saving mission, any donations on the day via collection tins or QR-codes would be immensely appreciated.

Dan Hodgson, Community Fundraising Manager whose territory includes Greater Manchester, said: “We are all really looking forward to our CPR-a-thon this Sunday and to showing passers-by at the Trafford Centre how to help someone who has had a cardiac arrest. CPR is an easy skill to pick up and its effects if delivered quickly in a cardiac arrest incident can be literally life-saving. I’d encourage as many people as possible in the Trafford Centre and in the city on Sunday to come and find us and join in what promises to be a really busy and educational event.”
