A man has been jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years after shooting his half brother in the street in Openshaw

Rumaal Ingram aged 36  of Bucklow Avenue Manchester was found not guilty of murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Manchester Crown Court.

Zikel Bobmanuel was shot in the middle of a street in Openshaw in March 2023 by his half-brother Rumaal Ingram.

The court heard how Ingram fired a single bullet at the floor using a Glock type pistol, which ricocheted and hit Zikel, causing injuries that were tragically fatal.

Earlier on the day of Zikel’s murder,  Rumaal had been in contact with Zikel and threatened to shoot him in the leg. Rumaal then went away and sourced a firearm and followed through with that threat.

Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said:

“My thoughts, and the thoughts of the entire investigation team, will always remain with Zikel’s family. No sentence will bring him back or undo this despicable act of violence.

“I’d like to thank the courage of the witnesses that came forward and helped us provide answers and achieve today’s sentence for Zikel and his family.

“I am glad this man is safely behind bars for a very long time, and I hope he will use this time to think about the devastation his actions have caused.”
