The coroner at the inquest of Teresa McMahon, a former ITV journalist who was found dead in August 2021 has recorded a conclusion of suicide
Coroner Mary Hassell said that there was no third-party involvement.
The mother-of-one had reported domestic abuse just two weeks before police say she took her own life.
She was wrongly told she wasn’t entitled to know about her partner’s abusive past under Clare’s Law
The coroner had earlier rejected an appeal by Lorna McMahon – Teresa’s aunt – for the inquest to be adjourned, saying it would not be “in the interests of justice”.
In a statement GMP Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker, lead for vulnerability and public protection, said:
“Teresa’s death has had a devastating impact on all who knew and loved her. Our thoughts remain with them as they continue to come to terms with life without her.
“We have done all we can to ensure the coroner establishes the facts behind Teresa’s death, and to provide her loved ones with the answers they deserve. This includes sharing a comprehensive review in full following complaints about our original investigation into her death.
“We acknowledge and have addressed concerns raised by the coroner around the benefit of scene photos in non-suspicious circumstances, and clearer retention periods for body-worn video.
