This autumn improvement works are set to begin on one of Manchester’s most well-used cycle routes.

The Yellow Brick Road (YBR), which connects to the Fallowfield Loop, sees thousands of people travel its length every day.

Whether walking, wheeling or cycling it is important that the route is maintained to a high standard to ensure everyone’s safety as well as improving the overall experience of using it.

That is why from Monday October 21 until the spring of 2025 a range of improvement works are due to take place. They will include surface improvement works of the YBR south of the Alston Road entrance in Gorton, through to the entrance to the Ashton Canal as well as improvements to 25 entranceways to the route making them more accessible for people with prams, wheelchairs, cargo bikes as well as adapted/disability cycles

There will be installation of street lighting across the route and cControl of vegetation to keep entranceways and paths clear

The work along the Fallowfield Loop and YBR is part of the Council’s continued commitment to providing attractive and accessible travel routes for people who wish to walk, wheel or cycle.
