On Saturday 9th November, Homobloc will return to the mighty Depot Mayfield for its fifth edition.
Building on the formula of the previous iterations, the legendary block party for all will bring artists, performers, spectators and clubbers together in a space where people can dance into their freedom, with its most dynamic line-up to date.
2024 has been a monumental year for the team at Homobloc, from featuring alongside Gossip as part of the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival, to launching a series of one-off events with the likes of Fever Ray, ANOHNI and the Johnsons, Avalon Emerson, and CumGirl8. Renowned for its spectacular live acts, DJs and performers, the flagship event this November is set to build on the success of the year so far.
Hailed as one of the most inventive and vital artists of our time, the critically acclaimed and immaculately cool Christine and the Queens will lead the Homobloc proceedings, joined by London-born hyperpop icon Shygirl who presents her latest Club Shy project, Swedish singer and record producer COBRAH making her Manchester debut and the rhythm shifting sounds of Olof Dreijer from The Knife.
Following an amazing performance at this year’s Glastonbury, Moonchild Sanelly will bring her bold and eclectic style to the Homobloc stage, alongside queer Manchester rapper OneDa, Chinese producer and hyperpop artist Alice Longyu Gao and a special collab between Pxssy Palace and rapper Mykki Blacno. Further DJ sets include Job Jobse b2b Saoirse, 2manydjs b2b Confidence Man DJs, Tiga, HorsegiirL, HAAi, Chloé Caillet and Horse Meat Disco, with live sets from I.Jordan, Christeene and LSDXOXO.
Showcasing next-level production and performances, Homobloc takes over the full expanse of Depot Mayfield including the three main stages (Depot, Concourse, Archive), plus additional stages across Plant Room, the historical Star & Garter Pub and the Loft – a unique space up on the rooftop of Depot Mayfield. The Loft welcomes an intimate takeover curated by Homoelectric with Studio 54 icon Nicky Siano sharing the decks with Prosumer, Kath McDermott and Jamie Bull.
This year’s billing also features an array of new and emerging global underground LGBTQ artists, spanning genres from experimental pop and electronica, to techno, hardcore and punk. Catch Kabeaushé, Maleigh Zan, Promi3e, Izzy Spears, Gaydar and Lustsickpuppy on a new dedicated stage showcasing international LGBTQ+ artists from across the scene.
The spectacular line-up of performers and dancers is an integral force, infusing unmatched energy into all spaces of the festival. The programming is a collaborative effort, involving many contributors, including LGBTQ+ collectives from Manchester and beyond. Brought to you by Feel Good Club, club night Make Me Feel curates this year’s Plant Room, promising genre-hopping fun and a music policy to make people feel good. Make Me Feel parties have quickly made a name for themselves, known for featuring a stellar line-up of often underrepresented DJ’s, artists and dancers. This year, the Plant Room welcomes NTS DJ and producer ShyOne, Grove b2b Tash LC, Ruby Savage, and locals Meme Gold and Stacy Bee (Swagga). Other Manchester collectives include Chipped Polish, a queercore party who will perform a special DJ set with Drag Race UK icon Bimini; neighbourhood disco Love Hangover, techno party Filth, body positive noise makers Dandy, hyperpop duo What Do I Tell My Friends, genre-crossing party crew Out Since Friday and Homobloc family members, Ghetto Fabulous.
