Heavy rain yesterday afternoon and overnight is causing major disruption to transport this morning
The M56 remains shut between Manchester Airport Junction 6 and Bowden Junction Seven due to flooding with no estimated time for re-opening at this stage.
There are problems on the Metrolink service including a service change on the Airport, East Didsbury and Rochdale Metrolink lines.
On the trains flooding is currently affecting a wide range of routes
Northern ticket restrictions have been lifted but due to a lack of availability and surrounding roads also being flooded, No replacement road transport will be provided
There are also Dozens of flood warnings across Greater Manchester as heavy rain continues.
Environment Agency teams were out working in the early hours to reduce flood risk, including monitoring flood defence assets like Didsbury Basin
