Oldham MP Jim MacMahon has revealed  that Greater Manchester is to be put into Tier 2 lockdown restrictions.

In a tweet just a few minutes ago, The MP confirmed that he had been on a call with The Health Secretary Matt Hancock

Tier 2 would mean that there would be household restrictions on meeting indoors in any setting, but not outdoors and that pubs serving food would remain open according to reports

He also said that Oldham would be removed from its enhanced lockdown situation and be brought into line with the rest of Greater Manchester

Fellow Labour MP Andrew Gwynn tweeted

”very sensible decision to put Greater Manchester into Tier 2. We will have a simplified set of rules: no social mixing in any indoor settings, rule of 6 in public outdoor settings; tougher enforcement for non-COVID secure businesses and hospitality remains open”

Andy Burnham described it as “the right decision & we’re glad the Government has listened.“

The Liverpool City Region is expected to face the tightest measures for four weeks from Wednesday, which may include a ban on overnight stays in other homes and a ban on leaving the area for non-essential reasons. Pubs and bars may also shut while households will not be able to mix indoors or outdoors.
