The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK’s leading gardening charity, have extended free Tuesday entry for Salford residents to RHS Garden Bridgewater for a further year to May 2024.

Since opening on 18 May 2021, over 875,000 people have visited the garden, with more than 42,000 Salford residents visiting for free on Tuesdays.

Head of Site Richard Green said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support and participation of the local community in the garden and we’re delighted to be able to provide another year of free entry every Tuesday to say thank you.

“Along with the new year-round RHS Access for All scheme, which gives visitors in receipt of Universal or Pension Credit access to the garden for the price of just £1, plus the launch of a £2 shuttle bus service to the garden from 1 April, we’re working hard to make it easier for more people to visit and experience the positive benefits of gardens and gardening.”

Mayor Paul Dennett said: “We’re delighted that free weekly access to the garden for Salford residents on Tuesdays, agreed between the RHS and Salford City Council, has been such a success and has been confirmed for a further 12 months.

“This was the first time the RHS gave free access to the community around one of its gardens and Salford residents are really connecting to this great asset on their doorstep, which now has cycling and walking access via the RHS Greenway.

“We’re proud to have the RHS garden and as it progresses it is developing a wider national and indeed international profile whilst leading the way in sustainability.

“I would encourage all Salfordians, to take advantage of this unique offer and experience the fantastic gardens for yourself.”
