Twenty eight year old Philip Broadhurst of Boddington Road in Eccles has today been imprisoned for 12 years at Manchester Crown Court for being part of a group of men who attempted to murder a 16-year-old boy in Eccles in March 2023.

Broadhurst is the fourth man to be sentenced for the targeted attack on the 16-year-old, as he rode his motorbike through Eccles in Salford.

He had been captured on CCTV making his way down Station Road towards Armitage Street, closely followed by another motorbike, which traced the route he had taken. A few seconds later, two gunshots were heard. The boy had sustained a gunshot through his arm and into his chest.

He received treatment in hospital and was discharged a few days later.

Three others Aiden Broadhurst 29, of Manchester Road, Salford, Kyle Meighan 31,of Chancel Avenue, Ordsall sentenced to 32 years and Jieh Sufyaan aged 36 of Pyrus Close, Eccles – were sentenced to 32 years’ in jail on Monday 26 February 2024 for conspiracy to commit murder.

They also received an additional three years each on licence.
