De Brook Lodge care home in Flixton is encouraging their local community to donate blankets, hot water bottles, socks and other ‘keep warm’ essentials to those affected by the increasing energy costs this winter.

Staff and residents at De Brook Lodge are using the donations to distribute ‘winter care packages’ to district nurses, social workers and paramedics in the area who can pass the packages to those in need.

Home Manager at De Brook Lodge, Alan Eyres, said, ’Community is a huge part of everything we do in our home, so it’s vital that we do what we can to support vulnerable people in our neighbourhood, and provide them with these essentials through the winter months.

‘We hope these care packages will not only make the colder months easier, but also prevent avoidable hospital admissions.’

If you would like to make a donation of blankets, hot water bottles, socks, hats, gloves or other essentials, you can take items to De Brook Lodge care home, 110 Irlam Road, Flixton, Manchester, M41 6NA.
