University of Salford racing driver and architectural engineering student is set to compete in F4 this year, having been selected as one of just 12 drivers from around the world to take part in the F4 Global Shootout 2025, a highly competitive, three-day event.

The winner will earn a fully funded seat in the next season of the FIA-certified F4 International Championship. Maltina Jashari is now seeking sponsorship to enable her to take part in the shootout and continue her journey through the racing ranks.

Coming from an untraditional motorsport background, Maltina has already made history as the first female racing driver from Salford. She’s also a committed STEM ambassador, breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation. With few resources and no contacts to help her navigate the motorsport industry, her journey has been one of determination and resilience from the very beginning.

Maltina recalls falling in love with the sport at the age of 8 when she began racing at her local karting track. From that first moment, she knew motorsport would be her future. Today, she is fully committed to climbing the ranks of single-seater racing, while simultaneously pursuing a degree in architectural engineering, a dual journey in motorsport and STEM.

“Especially with most motorsport opportunities happening in the South,” she explains, “there wasn’t much available up North, especially where I lived and grew up in Salford. There’s always been a lack of female representation in the sport. And now, being the first one from this city, I believe we can do far more than simply fund a racing opportunity—we can inspire, empower, and open doors for others. Especially for young women and underrepresented students across sports, business, media, and STEM, showing what’s possible when talent meets support.”

With unwavering enthusiasm for the sport and her academic journey, Maltina recently secured an internship at the Aston Martin F1 Team. Through the Aston Martin F1 Leadership Programme, she has developed valuable experience in leadership and public speaking, collaborated with key team members, and explored cutting-edge F1 technology, all of which she hopes to carry forward into a professional racing and engineering career.

Maltina added: “Motorsport is more than just racing—it’s a platform for innovation, collaboration, and global recognition. As I take on this challenge, I’m inviting sponsors to join me in breaking barriers in motorsport whilst inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.”

Having made major strides over the past few months, Maltina has been offered significant opportunities, including a seat with a British F4 racing team. However, without sponsorship, she cannot afford the training and participation required to take part in these pivotal events.

Actively seeking sponsors, Maltina reflects on how unique her career path has been and what she can offer in return: “I want to prove that women can compete at the highest levels, and that motorsport should be accessible to everyone. I hope to inspire other girls and women to pursue careers in racing or STEM fields, by showing them that there is a place for them here.”

She urges companies, institutions, and organisations to invest in themselves by investing in her, highlighting how a partnership could bring mutual benefits: “By supporting me, sponsors can be the first in their field to actively back a female racing driver and STEM student. They can lead a movement that showcases their business as a forward-thinking organisation supporting women in motorsport. This partnership will attract numerous avenues of attention and inspire young females from across the globe.”

In support of Maltina, Professor Andy Miah, of the University of Salford, said: “Maltina is a remarkable individual combining talent in engineering, racing, and even esports. An investment like this will play a major part in taking Maltina’s career to the next level and investors will play a crucial part in that important journey.”
