Seven crews and supporting units remain at the scene of a fire on Saddleworth Moor this morning after continuing to monitor and tackle the fire overnight.
Crews and partner agencies will continue their work this morning say West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
At its height yesterday afternoon Eighteen crews of Firefighters were tackling the blaze which covered an area of 2km square near to Rippendon including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
West Yorkshire Fire Service described the blaze as a large fire in very hot, dry conditions and are still urging people to continue to avoid the area which has engulfed the moorland
In an earlier statement West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said
“We were called at 12.15 this afternoon to reports of a moorland fire near Oldham Road in Ripponden.8 crews plus several supporting units are currently at the scene.”
