Firefighters have been has tackling a blaze at the Satmar V’Yoel Moshe Orthodox synagogue in Salford this evening

The fire Northumberland Street saw police cordoning off the area.

It is understood that the blaze broke out in offices at the top of the building and was discovered as worshippers arrived to mark the Sabbath

Manchester Fire and Rescue have since posted

“Crews have extinguished the fire on Northumberland Street but will remain on the scene overnight. Please continue to avoid the area.“
