Police have now confirmed the identity of the suspected murder victim in Harpurhey as 51 year old Clare Burns as her family have released a heartfelt tribute.
Police arrested a 55-year-old man at the scene at Queens Road on suspicion of murder.
He has been named as Leonard Lee of Queens Road, who has charged with murder.
He remains in police custody ahead of his next appearance at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 9 April 2025 .
In a loving tribute, Clare’s family said: “Clare was a loving mother, auntie, sister and daughter.
“She was funny, outgoing and a very independent person. She was also kind, generous and friendly to anyone she met.
“Clare would always light up the room she entered, and she was a brilliant friend to many.
“We will miss her dearly.”
Due to past contact between police and the victim and suspect, our Professional Standards Directorate have made a voluntarily referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, who are assessing the case.
