An exhibition that showcases some of the best street art in Manchester’s Northern Quarter has gone on display at Deansgate station in the city centre.
Entitled Moments in Transit, the collection of striking photographs has been curated by TiPP – a charity that uses the participatory arts to transform people’s lives.
The images, which were taken in collaboration with Manchester Youth Justice Service, hope to provide an insight into the value of street art in placemaking and supporting people’s creativity.
The exhibition is set to receive an official opening next month.
Craig Harrop, regional director for Northern, said: “Manchester’s Northern Quarter is well known for its eclectic collection of street art and we’re happy to help showcase some of the very best of it to the more than 1.3m customers that use Deansgate station each year.”
Rachel Graham, projects director for TiPP, added: “Moments in Transit is more than just an exhibition; it’s a celebration of the rich tapestry of street art that defines Manchester’s Northern Quarter seen through the eyes of some of Manchester’s most underserved young people.
“Through our collaboration with Manchester Youth Justice Service, we aim to highlight the power of creativity and its profound impact on individuals and communities. We are thrilled to share these striking photographs with the public and invite everyone to experience the unique artistry that shapes our city.”
