The regulator Ofgem have announced the energy price cap will fall 7 percent in July to £1,568 — down from the last quarter’s £1,690 a year for the typical household.

The fall is largely thanks to a fall in wholesale energy pricesHowever analysts are forecasting that although the energy price cap is falling in July, the likelihood is that it will rise again in October.

“The anticipated rise in bills as we move into the winter months emphasises the continued volatility of the market and the importance of providing protection for vulnerable households,” said Cornwall Insight’s Craig Lowrey.
