An 18-year-old man has been arrrsted suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Radcliffe yesterday afternoon

He remains in custody for questioning.

The attack which police believe was targeted in the St John’s Court area of Radcliffe and saw the victim being chased by another male armed with a knife.

The victim aged 20 had been taken to hospital by a member of the public, having received a stab wound.

While serious, his injuries are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening. The attack is believed to be targeted, with no wider threat to the public.

they are appealing for information to help progress their investigation.

This includes anyone who was in the area or witnessed Thursday evening’s events, or has relevant CCTV, dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage.

Detective Chief Inspector Victoria Kenyon, from GMP’s Bury district, said: “This was a horrific act in broad daylight and would have been a terrifying incident for those who witnessed any part of it.

“The victim remains in hospital and is likely to have a long road to recovery in front of him. I am glad that our officers were able to quickly secure the arrest of a man following the attack.

“These sort of incidents have no place on our streets and anyone who is involved in such violent acts can expect a knock on the door from us.

“Officers will be in the area to provide reassurance so you can expect to see lots of high-visibility patrols.

“As we continue with our work, I would urge anyone with information to please get in touch with us. If you saw something or believe that you have any knowledge of the incident, your assistance could greatly aid our investigation.”
