The Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham urged Labour not to ditch its £28 million green investment plans amid routine attacks from the Tories.
“I would absolutely say to the party: stick to your guns, you’re on the right path,” he told the Andrew Marr show on LBC.
He added: If you put that level of investment forward, that is the way you can reindustrialize the north of England. You can make the North West of England a clean energy superpower.”
Last summer Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the £28 billion-a-year plan to upgrade the UK might not be delivered immediately under a Labour government.
