Storm Lilian has created disruption across the region this morning with travel chaos due to falling trees and events also being affected is currently causing travel problems across the region

With high winds expected to continue until 11.00am,earlier most metrolink lines weee suspended with only services running between Rochdale and Victoria and Manchester Airport to Sale Water Park

At the moment the following lines are up and running but customers are told to expect delays

Services are currently running:

Piccadilly – Trafford Bar
Trafford Centre to Deansgate-Castlefield
Eccles to Piccadilly
Velopark – MediaCityUK
East Didsbury – Rochdale Town Centre
East Didsbury – Shaw and Crompton
Bury – Piccadilly
Airport – Victoria

Earlier there weee problems, now fixed on the M6 between Junction 19 and 20 due to a fallen tree and the rail network saw the line between Stockport and Macclesfield is blocked

Northern Rail has told passengers not to travel this morning due to the weather conditions

Rail Operator Transpennine Express posted on X

“Due to severe weather causing obstructions and damage to the railway infrastructure, disruption is expected across the TransPennine Express network. “

There are problems on the Ashton New Road due to a fallen tree

Stagecoach have put the following announcement on X

“There is currently a diversion on the 216 service between Edge Lane and North Road due to a fallen tree on Ashton New Rd.“
