People arriving or departing from Deansgate station in Manchester will have to enter and exit the platforms via Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink station until Monday 24 February.

The train operator, Northern says the main entrance has been closed while essential repairs are made to the station roof.

Deansgate railway station, which serves over 1.3m people every year, is connected to Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink station via a footbridge over Whitworth Street West.

Craig Harrop, regional director for Northern, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this causes, which is unavoidable while these repairs are made to the station roof.

“The station remains fully accessible, with stairs and lifts available to all platforms – although people should allow a little extra time to catch their train as they familiarise themselves with the temporary pedestrian route.
