Mughli has been serving authentic Punjabi cuisine on Rusholme’s landmark ‘Curry Mile’ since 1991.

After more than 30 years of business, they’re getting ready to open their first city centre location, taking residency in the highly anticipated House of Social later this year.

Mughli is a family-run, second generation Indian soul food restaurant, first opened by local legend, the late “Uncle Peter”.

Now owned by his sons, who have put their own stamp on the business, they are looking forward to doing it all again in their new venture at House of Social.

Shaz Arshad, one of the brothers leading the Manchester based group, which also includes Evelyn’s and cookie smash-hit Gooey, said of the new venture;

“We’ve always had a lot of love from Manchester city centre throughout the years, and it’s great to be able to bring it home to House of Social. We’ve looked at a lot of sites and spots; this has been on the cards for a long time and finally we’ve found somewhere which we feel matches our aspirations”.

Mughli’s House of Social menu takes inspiration from their original menu at their flagship restaurant on Wilmslow Road, with tried and tested favourites, as well as crowd pleasers from their various pop ups and collaborations over the years.

In the kitchen they aim to bring their Indian Soul Food of grilled meats and home style curries to the new operation.

 They have earned their stripes in the city as a go-to dining destination, having formerly been recognised as “One of Manchester’s best restaurants” and “One of Manchester’s best places to eat” by The Telegraph and BBC Good Food Guide respectively. They also earned a nomination as Manchester’s Curry Restaurant of the Year at the first ever Manchester Curry Awards last year.

Further kitchens will be announced in the upcoming months. Those hoping to attend the two storey foodhall can expect a diverse range of options reflective of the Manchester hospitality scene.

House of Social, the new collaborative development introduced by Jake Atkinson, the former operations manager of Mackie Mayor, The Picturedrome and Altrincham Market, will house five independent kitchens under one big roof. Set to open in the First Street area of the city, nestled between both Oxford Road and Deansgate-Castlefield stations, this highly accessible venue will showcase the eclectic Manchester food and drink scene, featuring regional long-standing favourites and growing businesses.
